Ask three providers what SEO costs for the same site and you will get three answers that barely overlap. That is not because one of them is lying. It is because the words SEO service cover everything from a monthly directory submission to a full technical rebuild with a content team behind it.

Price follows scope, and scope follows competition

The single biggest cost driver is how hard your target searches are to win. A dental clinic in one area of Dhaka competes with a handful of other clinics. A national e-commerce store competes with established brands, marketplaces and everyone running ads on the same terms. The second case needs more content, more technical depth and more authority work, so it costs more. Any quote given before someone has looked at your competitors is a guess.

What each band usually buys

Rather than publishing figures that go stale, it helps to understand the shape of what you are buying at different levels of spend.

• Lowest band: a small keyword list, basic on-page edits and directory or citation submissions. Can work for a single-location local business with light competition. Will not move a competitive national term.
• Middle band: real keyword research, technical fixes, a few new pages each month and monthly reporting. Suitable for most service businesses that want organic enquiries rather than only ads.

Costs people forget to budget for

• Content production. Someone has to write the pages, and good Bangla and English copy is not free.
• Developer time. Some technical fixes need your engineers, especially on custom builds.
• Tools. Whether you pay for them or your provider does, they are inside the price somewhere.
• Design. New landing pages often need layout work, not just text.

One-off audit or monthly retainer?

If you have an in-house team, a one-off audit plus a roadmap can be the better first purchase. You get direction and your own people execute. A retainer makes sense when nobody internally owns the work, or when the plan needs continuous content and authority work to keep compounding.

Questions to ask before you approve a budget
